£12.7m Man United star “happy” to leave, agent in contact with club

Matteo Darmian is nearing a move away from Manchester United following his agent’s meeting with Inter Milan, according to latest reports.

The versatile Italian full back became an unpopular figure at United after Jose Mourinho assumed the reigns of the club.

His fortune remained the same when Solskjaer took charge of the club’s helms. He managed only six cameos for the Red Devils in the league last season and he is unlikely going to get more game time next season.

United signed Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their most expensive defender so far, which has pushed Darmian further down the selection pecking order of the club.

Although the 29-year-old is comfortable playing on any of the side in a back four, he is unlikely going to feature ahead of Luke Shaw or even Marcos Rojo at the left full back position.

Darmian has been linked with a move back to the Serie A since last summer and it appears that Nerazzurri have held talks with his agent.

According to Sportwitness, who cited a report from Calciomercato, the agent of the player Tullio Tinti, held a 20 minutes talks with the San Siro outfits in a bid to broker a transfer for his client.

He currently has only one year left on his current contract and United may lose him as a free agent if he’s not allowed to leave this summer. The report further claim, the Italian is happy to leave United this summer.

The Red Devils are still in the market to sign a centre-back and midfielder and they are looking to recoup funds from the sale of some out of favour players.

He joined Man United from Torino in a  £12.7 million deal.
