Chelsea flop Baba Rahman is on the brink of sealing a permanent move with French club Marseille, reports Sunsports.
Baba joined Chelsea from Augsburg in the summer of 2015 under the auspices of Jose Mourinho in a £14 m deal. He was left on the fringes of the club until the appointment of Guus Hiddink, who gave several opportunities to the left back.
He racked up 15 cameos in the league in his debut season before he was sent on loan to Schalke. While his stock improved in the Bundesliga, an anterior cruciate ligament injury hampered his development at the African Cup of Nations.
He spent last season in the Ligue 1 with Reims, where he featured 11 times and scored a goal.
Despite the dearth of transfer activities at Chelsea, Baba does not look like he’d ever find his footing again at Chelsea, hence, his best bet at playing regularly is away from the club.
And now, according to The Sun, the 25-year-old Ghanaian is nearing a £5M switch with Marseille.
The Blues are unable to sign a player until the summer of 2021 but they have been able to recoup funds from the sale of some out-of-favour players.
He may be able to get his career back on the back in the French Ligue.
