Alexis Sanchez can thrive under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Alexis Sanchez has come under the hammer of fans of Manchester United for his below par performances but he deserves another chance to prove his mettle next season under boss Ole Gunnar Solskjear. The Norwegian manager led the Red Devils to a sixth place finish in the League but he’s expected to do better next season, with players like Sanchez also expected to bring on their A game.

Sanchez won two FA Cup titles at Arsenal during his four year spell. He was offered a contract by the club’s management but the Chilean knocked back the same and he was included in a swap deal that saw him join Man United while Henrikh Mkhitaryan moved the opposite direction. Sanchez’s move to the fortress of Old Trafford was heralded by the fans, as it is given that he established his quality as a top-notch player with the Gunners.

He’s known to be a workaholic winger, who brings his creativity to bare and scores goals. He scored 60 goals for Arsenal in 122 League appearances, which is an average of one goal in two games. A huge part of his success was attributed to his partnership and understanding with the creative midfield force of Arsenal Mesut Ozil. He combined very well with the aforementioned Arsenal midfielder to wreck havoc on opponents.

At United, Sanchez has scored only three goals in the League since he joined, a poor return by any standard. Although injuries have hampered his season, United have been unable to discover his strength. A creative midfielder who knows how to pass the ball can bring out the best in Sanchez. While Mata has been relatively good for the Red Devils, he falls short of certain qualities.

United are expected to be active in the transfer window and Solskjaer must make the signing of a midfield schemer his project. The presence of an inch-perfect passer will make Sanchez thrive at the club. The immediate past season for Manchester United is one to forget as the club failed to win any trophy and failed to qualify for the Champions League.
