Arsenal have confirmed that young defender Dominic Thompson has joined Brentford in a permanent deal.
The 19-year-old kick started his career with the Gunners when he joined at age 12 helping them reach the FA Cup Youth final I don’t 2018.
Thompson played 13 times last season for Arsenal in the Premier League 2.
Thompson featured in Arsenal’s pre-season games against Colorado Rapids, Fiorentina and Angers and also travelled with the team to Spain as they face off with Barcelona last weekend.
The left-back could have been thinking he was well on his way to regular first team football, but the club’s thought was different.
Nothing less or more is expected concerning the player. Thompson is a long way down the pecking order and with the popularity of Arsenal’s pursuit of Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, Thompson had little or no hope of first team football at Arsenal this new season.
Brentford’s scout staff have proven their efficiency in time past, so it is safe to think Thompson has some qualities which they saw and the found irresistible.
