Arsenal have confirmed the signing of former player Jennifer Beattie from Manchester City, according to report on the club’s official website.
Beattie started her professional career with Scottish side Queen Park Rangers as a 15-year-old before moving to Celtic and then Arsenal in the summer of 2009. Her four-year spell for Arsenal was said to be successful as she was a key figure in the squad that won the 2009 Premier League among other trophies.
She spent six years away from Arsenal lacing her boots for French club Montpellier HSC and Manchester City. The 28-year-old featured in 68 games for her previous club City and scored six goals – Arsenal are hoping that she will replicate the same form.
Confirming the arrival of the experienced defender, Joe Montemurro, the women coach of Arsenal has said:
‘Jen is a strong and experienced defender.
”We’re delighted that she wanted to return back to Arsenal to help us take our success to the next level next season.”She knows what this special club stands for, and she shares the same commitment and values. We are looking forward to working with her after the World Cup.”
