Arsenal in talks to sign reliable full back ahead of Man United on a five-year deal

Arsenal have begun negotiation to sign Belgian and Paris Saint Germain full back Thomas Meunier, according to reports.

After being thumped in the Europa League final by Chelsea, the Gunners are expected to increase their transfer budget and make some decent signings.

Meunier joined Paris Saint Germain in the summer of 2016 but due to competition for places, he has been unable to stake a place in the first team of Tomas Tuchel. Although he was featured in 20 league games for the Ligue 1 champions, most of his cameos came from the bench.

Having worked with Meunier, Unai Emery want to link up with the 27-year-old star. Arsenal would be without Stephan Lichtsteiner, whose contract has expired. Hector Bellerin is not expected to play for Arsenal at the start of next season, hence, Arsenal are desperate about signing Meunier.

The Gunners are not the only club linked with a move for the star, Man United are strongly linked. However, Meunier will likely favour a move to the Emirates because of his relationship with Emery.

According to Nicolo Schira who reports for Gazetta dello Sport, Arsenal have advanced talks to sign the right back

There are suggestions the deal will cost Arsenal about £26m. The Gunners are expected to heavily invest in their squad ahead of next season, particularly, their backline.
