Arsenal may have already signed the next generation Gareth Bale, that’s the claim of former English star Tony Cascarino. Ainsley Maitland-Niles has been compared to the former Tottenham Hotspurs attacker, reports the to the Times.
Maitland Niles is a product of the famous Arsenal academy who broke into the first team of the club during the reign of Arsene Wenger. Folllowing injury to Hector Bellerin, the versatile midfielder is the preferred player for Emery at the right back of his squad.
The English star has continued to polarise opinions among the fanbase of Arsenal but Former Chelsea and Millwall forward Cascarino has made a huge claim about the player’s quality.
He said: “I saw the next Gareth Bale on Thursday – and he was wearing an Arsenal shirt. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is a full back who is not really a full back, just like Bale when he joined Tottenham in 2007.
“He has fierce pace and gets in great positions to score and create chances. He is more of a wing back but could easily play in midfield too. But after a few recent injuries, the worry is that his explosive style may make him injury-prone, like Bale.”
To be fair on him, there were games Maitland Niles did superbly well but he also fumbled at other times.
He has asked Emery to feature him as a winger but we have seen how terrible he can be making decisions in the final third of the opponents.
His style of play and skills set is completed different from Gareth Bale, which makes you wonder why Cascarino is comparing them.
