Arsenal have joined Liverpool in the race to sign England and Southampton left wing back Matt Targett, this is according to reports.
Unai Emery is considering to revamp his leaky back-line ahead of the coming season and he has been linked with the signing of some full backs.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are looking to replace Alberto Moreno who left the club this summer and they have made enquiry over the available of Targett.
Targett started his career with the Saint in 2003 and ascended through the grades to the senior side. However the 23-year-old star has struggled for a starting berth and he spent the second half of the penultimate season on a loan spell at Fulham.
He returned to Southampton last season but he was limited to 16 games and a goal in the League. The lure of playing regular football will surely tempt the star to move away from St Mary’s Stadium.
According to Teamtalk, the left wing back is highly in demand. Leicester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Fulham have all registered interest in the star. Arsenal and Liverpool are interested and are said to be favourites to land to player.
The report further claims Southampton are open to selling the player if the right offer is made for him.
Targett will not fancy a move to Arsenal or Liverpool if he is keen on playing regularly.
