Despite failing to qualify for the Champions League, Unai Emery has claimed he is proud of his team but there’s so much work to be done, which will start from the transfer window.
Arsenal have seen their chance to bolster their midfield boosted after Sampdoria verbally agree to let transfer prime target Dennis Praet leave, per reports.
Praet moved from Anderlecht to Sampdoria in the summer of 2016 in a €10 million move and the Belgian has been a key figure for the side ever since.
The biggest strength of the 25 year old is his ability to win tackles and run across the length and breadth of the pitch. The Gunners are looking to sign a player in the stead of Aaron Ramsey and they have been heavily linked with a move for the midfielder.
Reports have claimed that Praet has a £23m release clause in his contract. However, the player has revealed the contrary, claiming that Sampdoria have told him to fulfill his transfer dream.
“I want to move to a top club in one of the four top leagues,” he told HLN.
“I don’t have a release clause. But Sampdoria have verbally agreed to grant me a move if an interesting offer arrives.”
Arsenal have handed a meagre £50m transfer budget to Emery and he is expected to bolster his defence, midfield and attack with the same. While the fans are eagerly waiting to see new faces at the club, there are likely going to be high profile departures.
