Chelsea have been linked with a move for highly-rated teenager Bali Mumba according to the Sun. It is reported that the Blues alongside Manchester City sent scouts to watch the 17-year-old in action against Halifax in the FA youth cup.
Mumba is highly rated by the Chelsea scouting team and have earmarked the teenager as a potential star.
Both clubs are willing to pay £2.5million to sign the youngster who has been impressive and shown much promise. Sunderland are likely going to sell the player January and use the funds to strengthen their squad. The Black Cats are second in the league 1 table and eyeing an instant return to the championship
Mumba has already made an appearance for the senior team and has accepted his first professional contract from Sunderland.
Chelsea would be a good destination for the youngster as they have the best youth system in the premier league despite their infamous loaning system.
However, the presence of Manchester City in the equation makes the transfer an interesting one to watch in the next few months as two financially backed clubs vie for his signature. The Blues have been impressive since the start of the premier league and currently sit 2nd two points behind leaders Manchester City.
