Ernesto Valverde will allow Manchester United target Ivan Rakitic leave this summer as long as Barcelona sign his replacement, according to reports.
The has come as a massive boost for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who has registered the Croatian midfielder in his good books. Solskjaer is keen on making United a more formidable and competitive side and he is shopping for quality players.
Rakitic has been on the radar of Man United since the reign of Jose Mourinho and it now appears the Old Trafford Faithfuls are in a position to prise him away from Camp Nou.
Although United have a plethora of midfielders at the moment, none of the players possess the A-class quality displayed by Rakitic. The 31-year-old midfielder has the ability to retain ball possession and create inch-perfect chances for his attackers – an attribute currently lacking in United.
Several publications have linked United with the player again this summer. And while, the Red Devils have not made any offer to sign the creative midfield schemer, Valverde is resigned to losing him this summer. Sportwitness cited a report from Sport with claims that Valverde will sanction the sale of the player if he finds a replacement.
The player is valued at 40,00 Mill. € but he’s tied to a contract with Barcelona till 2021. He would not want a cheap and short offer to complete a move given his age.
