Championship club Bristol City are in talks with Chelsea to sign versatile defender Tomas Kalas on a permanent deal, reports Bristolpost.
Kalas joined Chelsea from his country club in the summer of 2010 but the Czech has spent all of his time at Chelsea on various loan spells.
The 26-year-old defender was a key figure for The Robins last season – he featured in 38 games for the club last term and Lee Johnson appear to be impressed with his show-off.
Following departure of Gary Cahill, there appear to be a dearth of top-notch centre-backs at the club but Kalas is not interested in returning to the club as we understand.
He will be unable to dislodge the likes of Andreas Christensen, David Luiz or Antonio Rudiger in the Blues’s squad. His best bet at playing regularly is away from Stamford Bridge.
The report claims negotiation are ongoing and it is highly likely the Blues will get him off their payroll for a paltry transfer sum.
Chelsea have quite a chunk of their players on loan spells – if the Court of Arbitration for Sports uphold the transfer band handed to them, the only option to reinforcing their squad would be to allow some of their players on loan to return.
