Chelsea key player agree personal terms to seal transfer

Marcos Alonso is on the cusp of switching Chelsea for Atletico Madrid after agreeing personal terms to join the La Liga club, reports  Whoscored vs Marca

Alonso arrived Chelsea from Real Madrid in 2016 and he’s established himself as a fine left full back. Although, he is a fans favourite, he has recently found himself playing from the fringes behind Emerson Palmieri.

The 28-year-old player is wary of his chances in the first team of Maurizio Sarri for next season and if this report is anything to go by, he may have decided to call time on his spell at Stamford Bridge.

Atletico Madrid are active in the market – they are looking to shore up their defence, with Alonso said to be one of their major targets. The Spaniard is seen as an improvement over former Chelsea star Filipe Luis.

Although the player has reportedly agreed personal terms, Chelsea may be unwilling to sell following the transfer ban handed to them. If they fail at the appeal they filed at the Court of Arbitration for sports, it means they will be unable to sign new players and selling current players would be unwise.

The Blues ended the season with a Europa League trophy, they are expected to bolster their squad instead of selling some players.
