Chelsea looking to sign €65m-rated midfielder wanted by Man United

Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Serbian and Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

Due to a transfer ban hammered on the West London club, Chelsea were unable to bolster their squad in the summer.

They’d be eligible to sign players next summer. It appears as though they have begun making plans for the that time with Milinkovic-Savic named as one of their targets.

Since his move from Genk to Lazio in the summer of 2015, the 24-year-old midfielder has been a mainstay in the middle of the pack for the Serie A outfit.

He has scored 33 goals and provided 23 assists in 173 appearances in all competitions for the side.

His impressive display seem to have tickled to fancy of the Blues. According to Italian publication TuttoMercato, the midfielder was watched by Chelsea’s scout when Lazio locked horns with Celtic in the Europa League game.

Milinkovic-Savic was heavily linked with a move to Manchester United last summer but his bogus price tag appeared to be the stumbling block to any deal for him.

Lazio were holding out for up to £100m to let me leave last summer but he is now valued at €65 million by Transfermarkt.

Frank Lampard has a chunk of quality midfielders at his disposal but he could also do with the quality of Milinkovic-Savic, who has been likened to Yaya Toure.

Ngolo Kante has been linked with a move to Juventus – although the Blues will hardly ever let their midfield marshal leave, they may have started the search for his replacement.

However, the Portuguese will need slug it out with Frank Lampard in the race for his services because the Blues manager is equally interested in the player.

The Blues have solely relied on Tammy Abraham for goals so far this season and Lampard believes signing the €70m-rated (according to Lille’s price tag) Nigerian will lessen Abraham’s goalscoring burden.

Though Liverpool are firing from all cylinders, Klopp is equally eyeing a possible swoop for the Lille forward as he wants to provide more competition for Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino in the second half of the season.

It should be recall that Manchester United were once linked with a move with Osimhen but it remains to be seen if the Red Devils are still interested in his services amid Solskjaer’s desire to reunite with Erling Haaland.

Chelsea receive major setback in contract talks for Tammy Abraham and his teammate

Chelsea have received a set-back in talks to hand talented youngsters Tammy Abraham and Reece James new long term contracts.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard had to do with the players he inherited from his predecessor Maurizio Sarri at the beginning of the season due to FIFA’s transfer sanction.

The former England international did manage to get the best out of the available players as hehas  largely depended on the academy products — including Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi — for results, but that could change in January.

Abraham, who is the club’s leading goalscorer with 13 goals in all competitions, has been awe-inspiring so far, and the Blues are reportedly going to reward him with new bumper deal.

However, contract talks between the player and the club’s representative has reportedly failed to produce a positive result, according to The Telegraph.

The British media revealed that negotiations between both parties have stalled for now as the board members are shifting focus on getting the best players who can help Lampard achieve his aim for the season during the forthcoming transfer window.

Chelsea fans have no reason to panic because the player still has two years in his current contract, so, there is still much time to reach an agreement with him over a new deal.

Reece James is another academy product who is in line for a new contract following is awesome display for the Blues in recent weeks.

Just like Abraham, James still has two years in his deal with the Blues but the West London club hope to tie him down for more seasons.
