Chelsea are said to have one of the best Youth set-ups across Europe but in irony, most of the rising stars fail to ascend to the highest grade of the club. According to report on the club’s official website, Fankaty Dabo has agreed join Coventry City from Chelsea.
The 23-year-old England defender started out his career with Chelsea when he was 11 and broke into the first team of the side in the 2016/17 season. He did not feature in a single game for the first team but he was a key figure for the U21 side that won the Youth FA Cup.
He had spent the last two seasons on various loan spells before joining Sparta Rotterdam last season. His contract expired earlier this summer but Chelsea failed to renew the same because they were not impressed with his development.
However, Coventry reached an agreement with the player, who has joined them as a free agent on a three year deal. Mark Robins, the manager of Coventry City laid bare his delight at the signing of the star.
He s told the club website: “He is a defender with a lot of the qualities which we need in the team as we push on next season, and will be a great addition to the squad.”
Not much is know of Dabo like so many Chelsea players scattered across Europe on loan spells but we wish the lad success in his new adventure with Coventry.
