Chelsea to reignite interest in £43m-rated full-back next summer
Chelsea’s transfer ban will be lifted at the end of the season and manager Frank Lampard will finally sign his first player as Chelsea boss.
The Blues are said to be targeting some top players ahead of the next summer window and Albanian right-back Elseid Hysaj is one of them.
According to Radio Punto TNuovo, the Blues are ready to reignite their desire to see the player at Stamford Bridge despite their inability to capture his services during Maurizio Sarri’s reign.
The former San Paolo star hasn’t been in a spectacular form for Napoli this season due to lack of regular game-time and he is being monitored by Lampard, who feels there is a need to upgrade his defence before next season.
However, it is believed that the manager’s interest and desire to work with Hysaj is dependent on Reece James’s display throughout the rest of this season.
The young England international was lively against Crystal Palace as he prevented Manchester United’s transfer target Wilfred Zaha from having a meaning impact during the encounter.
Should James maintain such performance till the end of this season, it is very likely to see Lampard pull out of the race to sign the Napoli star before the 2020-21 begins.
Hysaj has featured in eight games in all competitions so far but he’s still in search of his first goal. He is valued at £43m by the Serie A giants.
Chelsea star has been asked to leave club in January
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has been advised to dump Chelsea in January if he must continue to feature in Didier Deschamps’ squad ahead of Euro 2020 qualifiers.
The World Cup winner lost his place at Stamford Bridge to Tammy Abraham prior to the start of the season and he has only featured in just six games for the Blues.
Considering the player’s experience and importance to his team, France national team head coach Deschamps has advised the former Arsenal centre-forward to end his spell at Stamford Bridge if he fail break into Lampard’s starting lineup before the end of the year.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan are said to be eyeing a possible move for Giroud as Conte hopes to work with the player having failed to work with him during his days as Chelsea manager.
According to Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the San Siro outfits are already in talks with the Blues and a deal could be reached in or before January.
Moving out of the West London club could be the best option for Giroud as it is very unlikely to see Lampard drop in-form Abraham from his list of regular starters.
Giroud has played 44 Premier League matches and has scored five goals since joining the Blues in 2018.
