One of four players whose contract will be expiring at the end of the coming season is Willian. Earlier in the summer, it was reported that he had signed a new deal with Chelsea but that seem not to be the case according to Frank Lampard.
The Blues head-coach stated his wish for Willian and teenage starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi to remain at the club.
Lampard was quick to identify Willian and Hudson-Odoi as an integral part of his squad since he took over from Maurizio Sarri at the Stamford Bridge.
Willian has been a subject for several transfer rumors this summer with Barcelona touted as his most likely destination.
Hudson-Odoi, meanwhile, enjoyed a breakthrough season at west London last term and became a top transfer target for Bayern Munich.
Speaking after Chelsea’s pre-season friendly victory over Reading, Lampard said:
‘I know the club are talking to him [Willian]. Willian and Callum are both players I want in my squad.
‘We’ve made some good moves this pre-season with Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek signing new contracts, two young players nailed down and the club are always trying to do that.
‘From a football sense, I’ve made my ideas very clear. I’m working very closely with Marina [Granovskaia] and the board because these are two players that we want to stay for sure.’
Hudson-Odoi was keen to leave Chelsea for Bayern Munich earlier in the year but seem to have changed his mind upon the appointment of Lampard as head-coach and is now ready to pen a new deal.
Asked about Hudson-Odoi’s new contract, Lampard added:
‘If he had agreed then that would mean he had signed and we’re not quite there yet. ‘But it’s very clear that the club are working towards that. I think talks have moved on very well in the last week or two, hence why the headlines came out, but it’s not done yet.
‘The one thing that’s clear for me is I know I want to keep him here and the club wants to keep him because he’s a player we cherish. ‘He’s come through our Academy, he’s the present and the future of this club so we’re doing everything we can to get there.’
Two Clubs In Contention For Chelsea Star Who Had An Eventful 2018-19 Campaign
France international Tiemoue Bakayoko is reportedly one of Chelsea players who could leave Stamford Bridge this summer as two Ligue 1 giants are trailing his situation under Frank Lampard.
Bakayoko, who had a great loan spell at AC Milan last season, is surplus to requirements as he is not rated by Frank Lampard.
With some days to the end of the European summer transfer market, the Frenchman is hoping to dump the Blues in search of regular first-team opportunities to rediscover his form.
Luckily, two clubs from his country PSG and Monaco are keenly interested in him as both clubs want to add homegrown talents to their respective squads.
Monaco were first linked with the player but latest report via the Daily Express has it that the Parc des Princes outfit are set to compete with their rival for the player.
Despite acquiring the services of Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye from Manchester United and Everton respectively, PSG manager Thomas Tuchel still desires to add one or two new signings to his midfield setup.
If Transfermarkt’s evaluation is anything to trust, then, PSG should be ready to release nothing less than €35m to Chelsea for the midfielder.
Meanwhile, the Blues recorded their first stalemate of the season after playing a 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Sunday.
A seven-minute goal from Mason Mount gave the Blues a first-half lead but Wilfred Ndidi equalized for the visiting Brendan Rodgers’ men in the second half as both sides settled for a draw.
Jurgen Klopp reveals the question Frank Lampard’s asked him during Super Cup clash
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed he was quizzed by Frank Lampard about Liverpool next fixture.
Chelsea were held by Liverpool to 2-2 draw after 120minutes but it was the Reds that smiled away with the trophy after the game was decided by penalties.
Most pundits and fans did not give Chelsea any chance in the game following their shambolic defeat against Manchester United in the league last season.
Olivier Giroud had put the side in the lead in the first half before Liverpool Sadio Mane equalised and they ended up playing extra time.
Tammy Abraham became the villain for Chelsea after his penalty was saved by Liverpool new boy Adrian.
Liverpool take on Southampton over the weekend and Klopp is ruing the fixtures.
“Actually we don’t have time for that!” he joked when asked if his players will now be able to touch the famous ‘This is Anfield’ sign.
“We play on Saturday again, we have to find a way to be ready for that game.
“After 90 minutes, I think, when it was close to the final whistle, Frank Lampard asked me: ‘Where do you play and when do you play [at the weekend]?’ And I said ‘Southampton on Saturday – congratulations!’
“Nobody wanted extra-time tonight, they play Leicester at home on Sunday but they played last Sunday so there was no advantage tonight but for the next game for both it will be pretty tough.
“But we have to be ready again and that’s my present to the players to help them recover so that they are ready for the game.
“It was a big fight tonight and I didn’t know before the game how good it would be when you win it, but it’s brilliant, it’s really big.
Chelsea advance talks to sell Tiemoue Bakayoko
Monaco are in talks with Chelsea over a potential move for midfield flop Tiemoue Bakayoko, this is according to reports.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard does not feature Bakayoko in his plans for the season and he has asked the French star to leave.
Bakayoko enjoyed what was adjudged as a fine form while he was on loan with AC Milan last season and he returned to the Blues this summer with high hopes.
Alas, his best bet at playing regularly this season is away from Chelsea.
He has been linked with a move to the Turkish league but it appears that he would end up lacing his boots for his former club.
French newspaper L’Equipe, as quoted by Metro, claim Monaco have taken knowledge of their former player and they have proposed a loan move for him, with the option of buying him permanently at the end his spell.
Bakayoko joined Chelsea with the pedigree of a top-notch player but his stock has reduced greatly.
The signing of Mateo Kovacic and Lampard’s belief in Mason Mount has been his undoing at the club.
He may find his form at Monaco.
