Man United are locked in talks with Spanish attacking midfielder Juan Mata over signing a new deal, according to reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is on a spending spree as he looks to rebuild the squad of the Red Devils but he will retain some of the experienced players in his squad.
Mata arrived Manchester United from Chelsea in the January of 2014 and he has remained ever present in the first team.
The 31-year-old star has been linked with a move to Turkey but he’d prefer to continue lacing his boots for the Old Trafford faithfuls are we understand.
According to the Press Association, United have advanced talks with Mata over a new deal and they are confident he will agree an extension.
The Spaniard is in the final month of his current contract with United and they do not want to lose him for free. Given his age, it is unclear if his £140,000-a-week wages will be bettered but they are likely going to hand him a two year extension.
United have been linked with the signing of Barcelona’s playmaker Ivan Rakitic but having a plethora of creative options in the middle of the pack is what Solskjaer wants for his team.
