Manchester United are in talks to sign Mario Mandzukic from Juventus, according to reports.
United are desperately in the need of signing a striker, this follows from their agreement with Inter Milan for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku has become a villain in his Manchester United story after he forced a move away from the club, despite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s desire to keep him.
The Red Devils entered a £74million agreement with Inter Milan for Lukaku and they have until 5pm today to sign a replacement for him.
Inaki Williams has been lately linked with a move to United from Atletico Bilbao but his bogus release clause may have stood in the way of any deal for him.
United initially held talks for the transfer of Mandzukic when Paulo Dybala was on their radar.
And now, according to Gianluca Di Marzio as cited by the Metro, Mandzukic may be nearing a move to United after talks were held today for his move.
Mandzukic is available only for a paltry £11m and he’d serve as a back-up for Marcus Rashford, who is the favourites for Solskjaer.
United have signed on Daniel James, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire but they were looking to add a creative midfielder to their squad but the departure of Lukaku has necessitated a move for a striker.
