Having left Old Trafford for China couple months back, Manchester United fans have clamoured for an adequate signing to replace Marouanne Fellaini.
The Red Devils have also been on the tracks this summer, looking everywhere for undisputed talents.
Although missing out on UEFA Champions League may hamper their chances of recruiting some of the best players around, the Old Trafford outfit are still expected to get some of the best legs.
In that regard, United currently have some of the promising midfielders in their ranks including Scott McTominay and Brazilian Fred.
At United, Fellaini was the player whom you would find everywhere – any position he was needed. That is Fellaini’s major trait. He could sacrifice anything for the good of the team.
Fred and McTominay are two United players who can effectively replace Fellaini.
Academy graduate McTominay was deployed in several roles during Jose Mourinho’s reign – defence, central midfield, attack.
Likewise, Fred is the ramming box-to-box midfield player like Fellaini who would be seen in his opponent’s box this second and at his own the next minute.
The two players although rarely used by Ole Solksjaer in the second half of the previous season, have the determination and talents to fill the big Belgian’s role.
Fellaini famously told the United supporters that they would have to fork out £50m to replace him. The best way to not do that is by looking within and showing more faith in Fred and McTominay.
