Manchester United are in pole position to sign Argentina and Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, according to reports.
United are in the market to reinforce there squad and part of the focus of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s is to add midfielders to his otherwise strong squad.
Lo Celso moved to Real Betis from Paris Saint Germain in 2018. After impressing for Betis, they opted to make his deal permanent. The 23-year-old star featured in 32 La Liga games for Betis last season and scored nine goals.
The biggest asset of the player is his ability to retain ball possession and lay dangerous passes to those ahead of him. United have lacked a creative midfielder that possesses the ability and key strength of Lo Celso, and Solskjaer is aware of that.
The Red Devils are not the only side linked with Lo Celso, Tottenham have been mentioned as well but according MEN, United are favourites to land the star.
The South American player is valued at £89m but the report claims Betis are willing to accept a £67 million for his transfer.
Tottenham have offered £53 million but it is understood that the same bid was knocked back. Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of the player and he has asked the hierarchy of the club to sign him.
United have been monitoring the situation of Ivan Rakitic at Barcelona but Lo Celso is a younger option and worthy investment.
