Manchester City assistant coach Mikel Arteta has revealed the stadium he dreaded visiting during his playing days for Everton and Arsenal.
The Spanish coach reportedly told the Echo that he feared visiting Liverpool’s home ground. The former Everton midfielder never won a single game at Anfield during his time at the other part of Merseyside.
Although he won two games against Liverpool at Anfield, his record as Man City assistant coach has been horrible.
Being manager Pep Guardiola’s right hand man comes with several perks, but Liverpool remains a dreadful opponent any day.
Arteta’s record against Liverpool at Manchester City has included three losses in four games.
The former Arsenal player was quoted saying “It is very difficult beating them”
He also went ahead to reveal what the situation against Liverpool really looked like during his playing time in the English Premier League. Arteta said, “Anfield was the only place I had the feeling of being stuck.”
It is no wonder that Liverpool were the only team capable of stopping the champions from a second successive English Premier League triumph.
The Reds also knocked the Citizens out of the UEFA Champions League race in 2017/18 before losing to Real Madrid.
