Nasser Al-Khelaifi delivers final update on Kylian Mbappe to Liverpool

Published

on

Paris Saint Germain president  Nasser Al-Khelaifi has quelled reports linking Kylian Mbappe with a move to the Liverpool, per reports.

Jurgen klopp has a knack for signing top-notch footballers. Although the Reds are not expected to sign a marquee player this summer, they have been heavily linked with a move for Mbappe.

Mbappe announced himself to the football community at a tender age of 16 at Monaco. His steady improvement earned him the attraction of the best clubs in the World. However, not all the said “top clubs” were able to make an offer for him because of his mammoth valuation.

He eventually joined Paris Saint Germain in a €145 million plus €35 million in add-ons deal as the most expensive teenager in the world in 2017. Since then, the stock of the youngster has increased significantly.

After helping France to win the World Cup, Mbappe led PSG to the Ligue One title and he ended the season as top scorer and UNFP player of the season.

The 20-year-old is also been closely monitored by Real Madrid. Nonetheless, it is Liverpool that are believed to be in pole position to sign him, (Daily Mail).

“He wants to be involved in our project to grow with the team, the club.” he said, as quoted by the Standard

“But I have explained to him that you do not ask for responsibility. You have to go and get it, sometimes even tear it off from somewhere else. You don’t wait, you provoke.

“As he is very intelligent, I am sure that he has understood…

“I am not 100% sure, but 200% sure (that he will not be leaving). I am not going to let go of this unbelievable player.”

Liverpool may have to look elsewhere to bolster their squad. To even get PSG to agree to let Mbappe leave, Liverpool will pay through their teeth.

It was revealed last week that Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich were interested in capturing Brazilian star Philippe Coutinho on a loan deal despite his poor run of form during his one-and-a-half seasons at Camp Nou.

After lengthy negotiations between the Blaugranas and the German side, it was reported that both clubs have reached an agreement and the former Liverpool’s versatile playmaker is set to make his switch to the Allianz Arena.

In fact, Coutinho is expected to complete his loan move to Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich as soon as possible, according to reports making headlines on Sunday afternoon.

The Brazilian’s unexpected move to Bayern Munich is currently one of the most discussed transfer news and Liverpool loanee Marco Grujic is the latest player who revealed his thought on the deal.

According to Grujic, it’s a great privilege having such talented player in the German League.

“It is a big opportunity for the whole Bundesliga that we get the chance to see Coutinho,” the Liverpool loanee told Germany based media outlet Bild.

He further predicted a bright future for the Brazilian winger cum playmaker whom he believes has what it takes to become the best player of the season.

“He is a special player that is capable of crazy tricks and I enjoyed every minute of training with him at Liverpool. He will be the best footballer in Germany by far”

“Coutinho will be welcomed in Germany and hopefully he can show his talents here.” he concluded.

Coutinho became Brazil’s second most expensive player, behind Neymar, when he completed a mouthwatering €120m move to Barcelona from Liverpool in 2018.

Jurgen Klopp reveals the question Frank Lampard’s asked him during Super Cup clash

Liverpool  boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed he was quizzed by Frank Lampard about Liverpool next fixture.

Chelsea were held by Liverpool to 2-2 draw after 120minutes but it was the Reds that smiled away with the trophy after the game was decided by penalties.

Most pundits and fans did not give Chelsea any chance in the game following their shambolic defeat against Manchester United in the league last season.

Olivier Giroud had put the side in the lead in the first half before Liverpool Sadio Mane equalised and they ended up playing extra time.

Tammy Abraham became the villain for Chelsea after his penalty was saved by Liverpool new boy Adrian.

Liverpool take on Southampton over the weekend and Klopp is ruing the fixtures.

“Actually we don’t have time for that!” he joked when asked if his players will now be able to touch the famous ‘This is Anfield’ sign.

“We play on Saturday again, we have to find a way to be ready for that game.

“After 90 minutes, I think, when it was close to the final whistle, Frank Lampard asked me: ‘Where do you play and when do you play [at the weekend]?’ And I said ‘Southampton on Saturday – congratulations!’

“Nobody wanted extra-time tonight, they play Leicester at home on Sunday but they played last Sunday so there was no advantage tonight but for the next game for both it will be pretty tough.

“But we have to be ready again and that’s my present to the players to help them recover so that they are ready for the game.

“It was a big fight tonight and I didn’t know before the game how good it would be when you win it, but it’s brilliant, it’s really big.

Coutinho wants to join one club after Barcelona star snubs Tottenham transfer

Philippe Coutinho is holding out for a move to Liverpool if at all he leaves Barcelona before the transfer window closes, I according to reports.

Tottenham made an offer for the Brazilian earlier this summer but got a negative response from Coutinho.

Barcelona have been in the market this summer looking for club to ship the playmaker to as they are eager to see his back.

The 27-year-old has fallen short of expectations during his 18 months spell at the Nou Camp.

As per talkSPORT Coutinho snubbed a move to White Hart Lane because he wants to fight for his place at Barcelona.

And talk claim Liverpool is the only team Coutinho is willing to join.

But Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to make any move for Coutinho this late into the summer.

He dashed all hope of signing his former star man earlier this summer claiming the price tag would be a draw back.

“In general, Phil Coutinho helps each team in the world, still – 100 per cent,” Klopp told ESPN FC.

“I like Phil, I think he’s a fantastic footballer and all that stuff, but it would be a big, big, big, big, big, big, big, big-money signing and it’s not our year for that.

“It’s just not possible. As I said, having him would make each team better – us included – but I really hope that he finds his luck at Barcelona.”

Coutinho is most likely playing his next game at Camp Nou unless a loan move to Italy or France materialise.
