Pogba may outlast Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may get the sack soon amid concerns also over the future of Paul Pogba.

When Manchester United resigned Paul Pogba in the summer of 2016, the fan-base of the club was thrown into hysteria. The French man had enjoyed the form of his life along the legendary Andrea Pirlo at Juventus before he was snapped up by the Red Devils in a club record fee.

He was expected to replicate the same form for Man United, alas, his form has been on and off, but he cannot be said to be a villain in the club’s story. He has been a strong force for the Red Devils in the middle of the pack, racking up 24 goals in 97 appearances in the league since 2017.

Pogba was cut a controversial figure for United during the reign of Jose Mourinho at the club. While he was expected to be sold, United sacked Mourinho and we saw a new and resurgent player under Solskjaer. Although he is currently recuperating from injury, he is still a key figure for Solskjaer.

Following United’s poor finish in the league last season and their failure to qualify for the Champions league, Pogba was believed to be unhappy and wanted out of the club. He drew the interest of Barcelona and Real Madrid but it is the latter club who made offers for him, per the Sun

Solskjaer rejected offers from Real Madrid to sell Pogba because he was a key figure in his plans for United. While Pogba has stayed put, the future of Solskjaer is now up in the air following a strings of poor performances by United.

Manchester United have managed to garner only nine points in eight Premier league games, making it their worst Premier league start in so many decades.

They play Liverpool this Sunday and there is now the general belief that any unimpressive result will lead to the sack of Solskjaer. Liverpool currently have an impeccable record in the league and so, we expect to see an exciting game.

Solskjaer is very familiar with the ideology of Man United as a former player of the side. He was widely backed on his appointment to bring back the glory days for United. Although, he had an impressive start to life as a manager of United, he has become unpopular among fans.

He sold some key players of the club in the summer including Chris Smalling, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez. The Norwegian manager may is likely going to be the next person that would be ousted from the club.
