England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek has laid bare his desire to stay put with Chelsea, per reports.
Loftus-Cheek is one of the few players that grew through the ranks of Chelsea to the first team. He started the season playing mainly on and from the bench. But he has assumed a key figure in the first team of Maurizio Sarri.
He scored the only goal for Chelsea against Frankfurt Eintracht last night to take his tally to seven goals in all competitions this season.
Following his inability to stake a claim in Maurizio Sarri’s squad, his future has been up on the air. He has two years left on his current contract with the Blues but the English midfielder does not want to move an inch from the club.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s game against Eintracht Frankfurt , he was quizzed about his future and he said:
“I’m not sure (over new contract), I let my agent deal with it. I’m not thinking about that right now.
“It’s important for me to focus on the here and now, and I’m playing right now. It’s looking good so there’s no reason why I should think about leaving Chelsea.”
Chelsea travel to play Leicester City in the League this weekend and they will be hoping to seal a place in the first quartet of the table.
