Tanguy Ndombele to Man United takes twist as club prepares record bid

United are one of the few teams of the Premier League that have signed a player in this transfer window. Nonetheless, the Old Trafford Faithfuls are yet actively looking to reinforce their fledgling squad.

United have been dealt a huge blow in their quest to bolster their midfield following reports that Tottenham are in pole position to sign target Tanguy Ndombele after agreeing to meet his valuation.

Man United are bracing themselves for the departure of Paul Pogba and they will replacement him with another top-notch midfielder should they reach an agreement with Juventus for his move. Ander Herrera also decided to call time on his spell with the club, leaving United a tad decimated in midfield.

Ndombele has been on the radar of United since the January transfer window. And now, according the the Mirror, Tottenham have advanced talks with Lyon for the signing of the 22-year-old French midfielder and they are confident of reaching a deal for the £71m-rated star.

Tottenham are expected to submit an offer for the player but they are not willing to meet his valuation as further claimed by the report.

Tottenham have not signed a player in a while and Pochettino has decided on strengthening his midfield following the January exit of Mousa Dembele and the speculation surrounding the future of Christian Eriksen.

Meanwhile, United have also been linked with a move for Gareth Bale and Antoine Griezmann.
