United have continued to be heavily linked with players in the transfer market despite signing one. Dutch and Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek wants to join Manchester United or Tottenham Hotspurs, per reports.
Ajax stunned the football World when the knocked out Real Madrid and Juventus in the Champions League. They were one of the favourites to reach the final of the competition until a stunning come-back by Tottenham kicked them out in the semi-final. Van de Beek orchestrated proceedings for Ajax and he was one of the best players for the Eredivisie side.
Following his barnstorming display for Ajax, the 22-year-old midfielder is in hot demand at the moment. He is said to be top on the radar of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Nonetheless, he’d prefer a move to the Premier League with either Man United or Tottenham.
Dutch journalist Marcel Van der Kraan, spoke with talkSPORT, and he made the following claim.
“Donny van de Beek has his eyes set on the Premier League.
“I think he’s a proper Premier League player – he’s got a big tank, he’s got the education from Ajax, he can play in more positions in midfield.
“I think he’s got his eyes set on a club like Man United or Tottenham Hotspur.
“I’ve been talking to his agent, and he said if that would materialise it would be something right up his street.”
United are yet to replace Marouane Fellaini who left the club in the January and Ander Herrera who just walked away. The club has been linked with a plethora of midfielders but they might consider Van der Kraan tacit come and get me plea.
The Red Devils are also heavily linked with Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt but no offer has been made for the star.
Has Harry Maguire Fared Better Than Chris Smalling At Manchester United?
Former Leicester City defender Harry Maguire created a new record by becoming the world’s most expensive defender when he completed his huge £80m move to the Old Trafford Stadium prior to the start of the season.
Many Manchester United fans were furious with the club’s decision to spend such massive amount on a player who hasn’t proven himself in any top-four team all his career.
The did has already been done, the fans had no other option but to pray that the former Sheffield United defender lives up to his billing.
Maguire’s move to Old Trafford didn’t just create a new record for transfer price tag, but equally pushed Chris Smalling further down the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams.
The English centre-back was eventually loaned out to Serie A side Roma before the start of the season so as to prevent the club from paying an underused player.

21 matches into the season, Maguire has blown hot and cold, and he has somewhat failed to justify his price tag.
Though it will be unfair to say that the former Foxes player has been a total failure, his performance is far below what was expected from him prior to the season.
He has failed to play a leadership role at the back and that is having a very negative impact on the team’s confidence level.
United have conceded 25 Premier League goals despite Maguire’s presence at the heart of the defence – although he is currently sidelined with injury. The 26-year-old defender is equally not a threat from set-pieces as he has no goal for the club.
Unlike Harry Maguire, Smalling is fast becoming a hero in Roma’s shirt having scored two goals in 11 League matches.
His reputation continues to grow so much that the Serie A side are set to seal a deal with United to have him permanently in January.
Judging by the players’ display so far, it won’t be out of place to say that Maguire hasn’t fared better than Chris Smalling at Old Trafford, and he need to up his game as soon as possible.
